Kathy Coakley, Owner, PTA, ATC
Kathy Coakley's extensive background in physical therapy and sports medicine inspires the quality of care COASTherapy offers. After obtaining her Bachelors of Science Degree in Kinesiology from UCLA, Kathy began her journey of becoming a prominent figure in the Sports Medicine community. As an Athletic Trainer, Kathy has traveled nationally and internationally with seventeen United States Teams and two Olympic Games. In the 1984 Olympic Games, Kathy was selected as the Coordinator of Sports Medicine for cycling. Her expertise and enthusiasm has provided her opportunities to conduct courses in sports medicine at the university level. Kathy continues to be an active member of her community, with involvement in youth and club athletic organizations. Kathy enjoys running and helping others pursue their goals of a lifestyle free of pain.Darci Tharp, MPT, Director of Therapy, Certified Orthotics Darci graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor's degree in physical education leaning towards athletic training and corrective therapy. In 1990, she earned her Master's of Physical Therapy degree from Chapman University. Throughout her career Darci has worked with the top Orthopedic surgeons, neurologists and internists in Long Beach and Orange County. At Long Beach Memorial Medical Center's outpatient physical therapy clinic, Darci was the lead physical therapist as well as supervisor for the outpatient staff. She has experience with chronic pain, TMJ, hand therapy, all orthopedics, work related injuries, sports related injuries, conditioning issues, orthotics and manual therapy.
Kestutis Jusionis, MPT,
Kes completed his undergraduate from Chapman University in movement and exercise science. He continued with a Master's of Physical Therapy with honors from NOVA Southeastern University. Kes is not an unfamiliar face to Huntington Beach and Newport Beach. He has worked in outpatient orthopedics for over six years and has designed programs for numerous pro and semipro athletes. Kes is known for his manual skills combined with stetching, strengthening and proprioception. Kes enjoys, volleyball, basketball, running and water sports.
Tyler Seppanen, MPT
Tyler began his career in orthopedics and sports medicine in 2001 working as a physical therapy aide while attending the University of Montana. After graduating in 2002 with a degree in Exercise Science and Health and Human Performance, Tyler moved to San Diego where he continued as an aide and became a certified personal trainer. Tyler graduated with his Master's in Physical Therapy from California State University Long Beach. Tyler is skilled in a variety of manual therapy techniques and has extensive experience with orthopedic, therapeutic and sports-specific exercise. In addition, he has successfully rehabilitated a variety of patient populations ranging from adolescents to professional athletes. In his off time, Tyler enjoys mountain biking, surfing, backpacking, exercising regularly and staying active.
Joo Won (Paul) Kim, LAc, MSOM, Acupuncturist
Joo Won (Paul) has been a licensed acupuncturist in
the state of California since he graduated with his Master’s Degree in
Science in May 2009 from the well-renowned School Of Acupuncture South
Bayo University and Oriental Medicine. Before receiving
this degree, he practiced his skill in his native country of Korea for
many years, focusing on healing throughacupuncture and oriental herb
treatments.Now, in the He
maintains a focus on balancing his patient’s Qi, in order for a
healthier lifestyle to be achieved both physically and mentally.Joo Won
(Paul) has a warm, gentle approach to acupuncture, and possesses the
ability to tailor each treatment to the specific needs of the
individual patient. He prides himself on educating his patients on
the mind-body-spirit connection, and the importance of its effect on
the overall body.
United States, he is applying his previous knowledge and experience to
treat neurological problems such as Sciatica, and other disorders such
as Post-Traumatic Pain.
Lance Von Stade, ATC, CSCS Lance is a Certified Athletic Trainer by the NATA, and a Certified Personal Trainer. Lance graduated from Long Beach State Cum Laude. Lance served as the Head Athletic Trainer and Strength Coach for the USA Water Polo Women's National Team and has travelled Nationally and Internationally with the team providing them with care and rehabilitation. When Lance is not travelling with USA teams he is the Head Athletic Trainer and Sports Medicine Instructor for Edison High School where he manages the injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation for all sports. Lance coaches at COASTherapy for strength, speed, agility, and cardiovascular conditioning for athletes.
Holli Vandeman, ATC, LMT
Holli graduated Cum Laude from California State University, Fullerton in 2009 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with her emphsis in Athletic Training. She is a Certified Athletic Trainer through the NATA and has received multiple scholarships from the National and Regional level. Holli has lobbied both in Washington DC on Capitol Hill and in Sacramento in order to assist in efforts of making sure that athletic trainers are recognized as allied health professionals. She is currently attending A.T. Still University in order to earn her Master of Science degree in Human Movement with an emphasis in Sports Conditioning. In addition to her athletic training, Holli is also a Nationally and State Licensed Massage Therapist. Her massage background has been utilized by the USA Men and Women's Volleyball team and with all of the sports teams at Cal State Fullerton.
