Physical Therapy - What to Expect
Our expert physical therapists combine manual deep tissue and joint mobilization methods in addition to specific and prescriptive exercises to alleviate all forms of musculoskeletal problems. Our treatment approach will help you regain control of your body, returning you to your active life.
What to bring to physical therapy
It is important for a carpenter to have the proper tools to complete his projects properly. The same holds true for physical therapy.
It is important that patients bring with them the following:
- Prescription form from a Physician (Initial visit only)
- Insurance information card(s) (Initial visit only)
- Loose-fitting comfortably clothing
- Shorts for lower-extremity treatments
- Tank-tops/T-shirts for upper-extremity treatments
- Gowns may be provided for treatment to the neck or back
You can expect your therapy to last 1 to 1-1/2 hours per session. Commitment to your appointment schedule for the duration of your prescription is essential to your recovery. This usually entails 2-3 visits per week for 3-4 weeks.
Your First Visit
On your first visit you will be guided through preliminary paperwork and informed of your current insurance benefits. To expedite ones initial visit, you may download the necessary forms and complete them prior to your first visit. (Obtain forms here)
The first visit consists of an initial evaluation of your current medical condition. A thorough health history will be obtained to provide our Therapist a solid foundation to create a specifically tailored program, unique to your needs.
COASTherapy utilizes combinations of therapeutic modalities, dynamic exercises, and manual therapy to create a rehabilitation program that efficiently returns you back to your activities of daily living in a timely manner.

Life After Physical Therapy
Once you come to COASTherapy our therapists are with you for life. Patients will be provided a comprehensive home exercise program. The home exercise program will allow you to continue to improve your health seven days a week. This important tool will help you maintain your new level of function and decrease the probability of re-injuries.
For Patients that wish continued supervision and guidance of exercises, Coastherapy offers transitional care programs, personal training, and/ or Pilates.
